Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)LPG (G31)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoSame for all models. The MI prints the tolerance as + upper / – lower. The case front panel must be fitted when checking combustion (7.4.2). The NG gas valve setting table in 9.3.8 gives 8.8% + 0.3 – 0.2 without saying case on or off; this matches the case off figure.
Case on
9.0% + 0.3 – 0.2
Case off

CO₂ at low rate
More infoHide infoSame for all models. The NG gas valve setting table in 9.3.8 gives 8.3% + 0.1 – 0.4 without saying case on or off; this matches the case off figure.

Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoNG: at the meter 19–23 mbar (Fig.36). 7.4.1 says the working pressure at the gas inlet test point, boiler at maximum, must be at least 18 mbar; fault finding gives a minimum of 17 mbar at the gas valve (10.2.3) and 19 mbar at the meter (10.1.1). LPG: Measurement point not stated in MI. 37 mbar is the G31 supply pressure in the LPG gas category table (14.3); the MI gives no LPG working inlet pressure range.

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
