Combustion figures

FigureNatural gas (G20)
CO₂ at high rate
More infoHide infoTable 1 gives this as CO₂ content at Max. DHW (sizes shown as 24 kW, 30 kW and 35 kW). Measured at the flue gas sampling point. The air/gas ratio valve is factory set and must not be adjusted.
C24
9.2% ± 0.7
C30
9.3% ± 0.7
C35
9.7% ± 0.7
CO₂ at low rate
More infoHide infoTable 1 gives this as CO₂ content at Min. CH.
C24, C30
8.5% ± 0.7
C35
8.8% ± 0.7
Maximum CO
More infoHide infoFrom the Benchmark CO level and combustion ratio flowchart: check at maximum rate, then at minimum rate.
Less than 350 ppm
CO/CO₂ ratio
More infoHide infoFrom the Benchmark flowchart, checked at maximum and minimum rate. The servicing schedule (MI 3.1) says if the ratio is greater than 0.004 at maximum rate, carry out the cleaning procedure.
Less than 0.0040
O₂
Not given in MI
Working inlet pressure
More infoHide infoMI 1.9: allowing 1 mbar loss across the pipework from a minimum meter outlet of 19 mbar, a minimum operating pressure of 18 mbar will be delivered to the appliance inlet. The 1:1 gas valve lets the boiler give full output down to 14 mbar, but other appliances may not be as tolerant. The external gas cock can further reduce the pressure measured at its test point (graph in MI 1.9). Table 1 gas supply: 2H - G20 - 20 mbar. Check at the gas inlet pressure test point at maximum rate (DHW tap fully open).
Appliance inlet
Minimum 18 mbar
Gas rate at maximum
More infoHide infoMaximum DHW input gas consumption (Table 3). Maximum CH input is 2.512 m³/h on all sizes (Table 2). Based on a calorific value of 38.7 MJ/m³ gross. Check at the gas meter at full DHW output with no other appliance in use.
C24
2.512 m³/h
C30
3.135 m³/h
C35
3.657 m³/h
Flue integrity
More infoHide infoAt the air inlet test point, boiler at maximum rate. The MI says O₂ more than or equal to 20.6% OR CO₂ less than or equal to 0.2%.
O₂ ≥ 20.6% or CO₂ ≤ 0.2%

Check these figures against the MI for the appliance in front of you, matched by GC number and manual date. Combustion work needs a calibrated analyser and a Gas Safe registered engineer.
